Spring sends me a gentle kiss
Swathes in each cherry petal.
It melts into a mellow breeze
Blows away the cold weather.
🌸
The blossoms ask: “Why are you here?”
I whisper: “To greet you, my dear.”
They smile and tell me a secret:
“So lovely, but my time is near.”
🌸
Someone said: "There’s always hope
Wherever cherry blossoms bloom."
"Life is short, let’s hurry!" I wrote
So our dreams will never gloom.
Background story of the poem
One month ago, I visited the palace garden of Schwetzingen. Amazed at the gorgeous beauty of the cherry blossoms and the fairy-like atmosphere in Germany in spring, I wrote a short poem about cherry blossoms. This is the first English poem I have ever written, as well as the original one.
I also translated the poem into Vietnamese and German. But, as you know, translations can hardly convey the same vibe and mood as the original version. Maybe I should consider them three individual poems.
Hope you will enjoy my poem.
Have a wonderful weekend, my dear friend. 🌸
Have courage and be kind. 🌸
